Enabling MFA for your Rivia Account

This step-by-step guide will help you configure Multifactor Authentication (MFA) to access your Rivia Account.

Written by Carolina Almeida

Rivia uses Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to keep your account and your data secure. In addition to your email and password, you’ll confirm each login with a Time-based One-Time Password (TOTP): a six-digit code, generated by an authenticator app on your phone, that is valid for 30 seconds.

Important: Rivia will never ask you for your password or your TOTP code. Do not share them with anyone, including Rivia team members.

Duration

The first-time setup should take about 5 minutes. After that, each login takes only a few seconds.

Before You Start

You’ll need an authenticator app on your phone. If you already use one, you can use it for Rivia. If not, any of the following will work:

  • Microsoft Authenticator

  • Google Authenticator

  • Okta Verify

  • 1Password

The setup steps are the same whichever app you choose.

Step 1 – Set Up MFA on Your First Login

The first time you log in to Rivia, you’ll be asked to link an authenticator app to your account.

  1. Log in to Rivia with your email and password

  2. Rivia will display a QR code

  3. Open your authenticator app on your phone

  4. Use the app’s QR code scanner to scan the QR code shown in Rivia

  5. Your app will now display a six-digit code for Rivia

  6. Enter that code in Rivia to confirm the setup

  7. Give your device a name in Rivia (e.g. Work iPhone)

✅ Your MFA is now set up.

Step 2 – Log In Going Forward

For all future logins:

  1. Enter your email and password

  2. When prompted, open your authenticator app and enter the current six-digit code for Rivia

📌 Codes refresh every 30 seconds. If a code expires before you submit it, simply enter the new one.
